Whenceforth the calamitous day of the twenty-fourth of May in the yere of oure Lord a thousand, two hundred and foure-score, when as four souls departed this life and many moore were accounted lost in an eathslide of grievous proportions in the distant landes of Enga Province, in the realm of Papua New Guinea.

A tragic event, this eathslide, did it not occur in the most remote reaches of our fair earth? Four souls perished beneath its crushing weight and many more are yet accounted lost. The people of Enga Province, a land far removed from our own, mourn their losse even as we do now lament the passing of four of our kin.

This eathslide, an event of such magnitude that it hath swallowed whole villages into its maw, was not without warning. There be those who say that leeches and rats were the harbingers of this disaster, yet others lay the blame at the feet of the King, or lack thereof. But we, humble messengers of truth that we are, do not traffic in such baseless calumny.

No, our tale is one of woe and sorrow. A people torn from their homes and left to wander the wilderness in search of sustenance and shelter, even as they mourn the passing of their loved ones. For this is the lot of those who dwell in the far corners of our world: to suffer grievously in silence.

Yet let us not forget the valor of those who remain. In the face of such adversity, they do persevere. And so it is that we shall tell their story, even as we honor the memory of those four souls lost to the cruel hand of fate.
