Flooding in Southern Brasil Claims Mor Than CXLVII Lives and Counting; Many Still Unaccounted For.

Published Mon May 13 2024

In the days of yore, upon the morrow of our Lord's most holy day in the year of our Lord 2024, the realm of southern Brasil was visited by a deluge of waters unseen since the great flood of Noah's time. This cataclysmic inundation hath claimed more than a hundred and forty-seven souls, and many more remain unaccounted for.

The torrential rains began on the eve of May Day, swelling the rivers to unnatural levels and causing the normally tranquil brooks and streams to become tempestuous torrents. The townsfolk of affected regions were caught unawares, as the deluge arrived with such ferocity that there was naught time to construct defences against its wrath.

As the waters receded, a grim tale unfolded before the eyes of those who dared to venture forth from their homes. The once-proud fields and meadows lay sodden and bereft of life, save for the occasional rat scurrying through the muck. Homes and other dwellings had been reduced to rubble by the force of the floodwaters, leaving naught but ruin in their wake.

The King, hearing of the devastation wrought upon his subjects, hath dispatched a cadre of skilled men-at-arms and women-healers to aid the afflicted populace in their hour of need. These noble souls are even now braving the elements in a valiant effort to succour the survivors and lay the foundations for the rebuilding of their shattered communities.

Yet, as the death toll rises by the day and night, many fear that this calamity may be but the harbinger of further woe to come. For the rats, those verminous scourges of the land, have been sighted in great numbers about the stricken regions, their leech-like appetites sated with the carnage of the flood.

And so it is that we stand at the crossroads of history, as our fair realm faces a most dire conundrum. Will the people of southern Brasil rise above this adversity and rebuild their homes and lives anew? Or will they fall prey to the plague and other foul creatures that lurk in the shadows?

Only time shall tell if these noble souls can overcome the ravages of nature, or if the darkness shall claim them in its cold, unyielding embrace. In the meantime, pray for the souls of those lost to this great flooding, and give thanks for such valiant efforts made by the King's men and women in their quest to bring light back into the lives of the affected populace.
